botanical latin conifers

and they are both correct. The botanical name is Thuja. In the mid west and=
eastern states they are mostly Thuja occidentalis (or Eastern arborvitaes)=
in B.C. or the west coast they are Thuja plicata (or western cedar). I don'=
t know what?the common names are?in England, would be interesting to find o=
ut, and perhaps Australia calls them something else entirely.
I had never even heard of "arborvitaes" until I lived in the states. When I=
first arrived I thought, hey, how come they don't sell common cedars here,=
and what the heck are these "arborvitae" things???

Anyone else run across regional common names that were confusing?
