HI all,
Is there *any* way to get rid of bermuda grass besides spraying it
heavily? I inherited my grandmother's cottage, with lots of space, but
bermuda is everywhere. I've had luck planting clover in the areas
where it hasnt taken hold, as the clover prevents it from spreading,
but I simply can't pull it all out by hand. I hate the idea of using
herbicides, as I want to plant more herbs and veggies, and I have
beehives. I think most magickal people can't stand the idea of
chemicals.. including me. I used to be more flexible on that notion,
but not anymore. I weeded one garden bed, about 20 x 10 ft, 3 times
last summer just to keep the bermuda out.
Everyone has told me I just need to spray it. Not just once, but
twice...
any ideas? Any things I could plant which would bump it out?

Hi Jen, I live in SE New Mexico and before I had better sense,
planted Bermuda! I abhor the stuff and never found a spray that
would really get rid of it. But, if you put down good heavy
cardboard and then I recycle old carper over that (fuzzy side down,
jute side up) take a sharp knife and just cut an "X" put your plants
in at the X fold the corners back down and presto! No weeds, no grass
and out here in our desert I only water once per week unless it
rains. It works great! Sheila
