Using newspaper as a mulch between rows helps a lot. 4-6 sheets in a layer =
is sufficient - and it will break down and decompose benefiting the soil ov=
er the winter. I also use newspaper around the stems of my tomato plants as=
well to keep the soil splashing onto the leaves spreading diseases onto my=
plants.
If you want the gardens to look a bit better, you can cover the newspaper w=
ith mulch.

I plan on using black plastic sheets laid on the ground with holes where I =
want the plants, mulching to cover the plastic and keep the heat in the gro=
undI and drip irrigation,
no dig, no weed, no watering..
Putting the black plastic down a year prior to using the ground will heat u=
p the ground and kill the weeds, and makes the soil soft to work.
Cheers.. Timothy-Keith: Randles
