It was a pleasant suprise to stumble upon a vetch yesterday
08/08/2007
that was not so difficuly to ID, Found alongside a disused railway
track also notably abundant Yellow Toiadflax - A Crown Vetch
I have placed the pictures in the Folder called Mystery titled Crown
Vetch for comment
Crown Vetch (Securigera varia, formerly Coronilla varia), also
called Purple Crown Vetch,
How naturalised is this plant??

How to answer that, Colin? It's more commonly naturalised than bladder

RE Clouded Yellows
The only native plant used by the Berger's Clouded Yellow in Britain
is Horseshoe Vetch (Hippocrepis comosa), although the naturalized
Crown Vetch (Securigera varia) may be used, as it is in continental
Europe.
