After blooming for about a year my phalaeonopsis appears to be done
blooming. There is only one flower left and the flower spikes are
yellowing. I am assuming that it is going into dormancy.
Should I cut back the flower spikes?
Thanks.

Thank you so much Jane. This is just what I needed to know.
I am in New Jersey--so close to New England. I loved having my orchid in bl=
oom during the cold winter months.
Sheri
janniesdoggies
you
found out. If the spikes are yellowing down to the base of the
leaves, then your plant is probably finished its flowering cycle for
now. This is the time to grow a bit more foliage, so give it a high
nitrogen fertilizer in a very weak solution once a week or just
after you water. This is also the time you may want to trim the
roots and change the medium. If it is moss, you can repot in fresh
moss, or in a bark mix, change all of it.
Then begin fertilizing a three weeks after repotting, again on a
weekly basis. I manage a tropical houseplant greenhoues in New
England, and this is the proceedure we up north need to follow to
keep healthy lush orchids. Good luck. Jane

Hola Sheri- I think that since it has been blooming for so long, it needs a=
break!
I would let it rest for a few months, and feed it good!
