I read your post and it sounds like poison ivy to me. I had it last
year but without any flu symptoms. Be aware that the clothing you
were wearing can still contaminate you (including garden gloves).
Put on a pair of rubber gloves, grab the clothing and throw it in
the wash. Then get someone NOT allergic to poison ivy to clean out
the patch. Also if you have a pet that has access to that area, you
can get a rash by petting it's fur if it rubbed up against the vine.
Lovely stuff, poison ivy (sarcasm intended).

> A few days before the chicken pox rash appears one usually has flu
like symptoms, fever, headache, swollen glands etc. The rash will
continue to develop in new areas over several days but only on the
parts of the skin that first had contact with the plant oil or those
parts where the oil was spread by touching. Blister fluid cannot
spread the rash. It is an airborne virus. Unless that sounds right
to your case, more likely you got irritated by a plant you were
in/around. Other plants cause rashes that look like the poison ivy,
oak, or sumac rash: the ginkgo tree and stinging nettle are two.

I have never had much trouble with Posion Ivy or Posion oak (Posion
Ivy does not grow in the west, but posion Oak is just as bad and works
the same way) Years ago a man told me after being out where you can be
exposed to either one, to come in and change your clothes and wash
them immediately. Then wash the exposed area of your skin with Fels
Naptha Soap. The soap has something in it that breaks down the oil
from the poison Ivy and stops the rash from starting. I have followed
this advice for years now and have not had any trouble even when i
have removed a patch of ivy or oak.
Sometimes in late summer when all is very dry here in California, the
wind can blow the dust onto your skin and cause trouble even if you
never touch the stuff. Clothing that has lain around and not washed
can reinfect you also.
Just thought i would pass this along.
