An Orchid is an Orchid. In time, other type plants could Evolve into Orchid=

I do not think that is what she is asking. She is asking about
vegetative propogation...cuttings, divisions, etc
Some orchids can be divided. Some orchids can be started from pups that
sprout off of the bloom spike. Depends entirely on what type of orchid
you have. Not all orchids are easy to propagate and the best form of
propagation is cloning which has to be done in a sterile lab.(called
Mericlones) They produce exact replicas of the original plant. Of course
the final way is to produce seed and germinate the seed. Also something
that should be done in a sterile lab. (the seed is microscopic small) I
would recommend only division of divisible orchids or planting pups for
anyone that is not an expert. Pups by the way is dependant on the plant
being willing to produce pups. Some are more willing than other. I have
only had 1 plant in my 30 plus years of learning how to grow orchids in
my home ever produce pups. I have only successfully grown one pup to
adulthood. Divisions are far easier in my opinion.
Dendrobiums can be divided and will also produce pups. Phalanopsis will
produce pups but can't be divided. Cattleya types can be divided but
don't produce pups.
Hope that helped.
