HI! I'm not new to the group but have not posted before. My question
that I cannot find an answer for is.... Will there be any danger if I
use shingles down the rows of my garden for weed control? The do not
contain asbestos. What do you all think? Has anyone done this
before? Thanks! Tracy in Georgia <><

Hi Tracy

While they might not contain asbestos, they wdo likely contain TAR -
whwhich I woulndt want in my yard, my soil or inside my veggies that
will end up inside ME!
HAvent researched the chemical properties orhazzards, but I
would "just say no!"
how about newspaper - and mulch? I do that when I create a new garden
bed, instead of digging. I lay out cardboard, or lots of layers of
newspapers, soak them really well - and cover them with mulch. The
upside to that is that as the paper decomposes, it creats more soil
and also is a great moisture reatining feature while it is busy
decomposing. just my thoughts!-

Doesn't sound good to me. You mean asphalt type I assume. The
wooded ones would be nothing but splinters.=20

Maybe carpet, or the newspapers idea.=20

But if you have a bunch just laying around...what ya gonna do?=20=20

bahB=20=20=20=20=20=20
