stag fern

updated tue 27 feb 07

I didn't water it very often last summer.

It doesn't grow very well.

And since this winter it rained pretty often and it is growing again.

So far it is not very big and I've moved some smaller one on the trees in
the mountain..

Hope they could grow well in both places.

Hola to all- I have had Staghorn ferns for a long time! The first one which I had was when I lived in Atlanta Ga., and it was too cold one day while it was in the back porch and it did not make it! But when I moved to south Ga., in 1993, I went shopping at HD in Savanah, Ga. where they had a .50 sale! So I bought another fern which I planted in a wire basket using orquid bark and potting soil mix. That fern is now very big, and it weights so much that the wires broke and it is now sitting on a bench in the GH. It weights about 200+ pounds. I believe that I shall try to split it into a few plants in the spring since it weights too much to hang!
Maybe I'll have a division for some people!

Looks pretty happy to me!
I got one last Fall, it hasn't done much growing since then. I expect it'll pick up the pace come spring.

Liz B Aust.,
Is the plant of the first pic yours?
It's not the same as mine.
Mine is very common here.
Yours is less common.
Since this year, I've begun sometimes put fertilizer behind the leaves.
Hope it works.

Very pretty. Living in snow-bound Illinois, I'd love to get a hint
from most picture posters what country/state these plants are growing in.
