Yes, well, this spring and summer I did that and never again. And they were
being supervised but it is hard to get them to not do what they are doing
without having them get huffy. People not only want to dig up the plants
they want the dirt too and lots of it which of course leaves a hole that I
have to fill with less than what I had. They just tromp through the gardens
with no regard to where they are stepping. When picking the fruit on the
trees they break the limbs too reaching too high when pulling them down. If
they don't like the apple or plum or whatever they just through it on the
ground for me to pick up. And they bring their children even after I started
telling them that I didn't allow children into the gardens...they run amok
and there are still plenty of hazards for them to get hurt on. I told one
mom that she needed to have her child stay right with her and she said,
"Children will be children and need to run and play." I told her about some
of the hazards and she just said that no one can keep their child wrapped in
bubble wrap just in case. Moms always say that dad was supposed to take the
children but he had to work late. LOL It was a real nightmare. Then there
are those that set an appointment and never show up or call leaving me to
not know if they still want what they were asking for or late or whatever.
There was a lady that was coming over to take a rosemary bush and set an
appointment two days ago for the next day and she never showed up either. I
give up. The only ones that were legit and did well were the people that
owned a local farmer's market. They came, were considerate and did a nice
job. I tried saying things but it made me miserable. So I was miserable
either way. LOL The lemon balm, mint and blackberries would be kind of not
worth it as they could take a pickup load and never put a dent in the amount
I have. I am going to use the lemon balm and mint next year, just didn't
have time to learn how to do it though this year. The entire place smelled
really good though. Just that I couldn't even find my strawberries for the
balm and mint. LOL I don't feel selfish about any of this as people have
proven that unless it is theirs they don't respect it. I do have a herbalist
though that comes and gets what she needs to make her tinctures and teas.

Hmmm, then what about potting some up and selling it at your local
farmers market?
Sorry you had such a bad experience with it. I made sure my son knocked
the dirt off the roots we got.
Making tinctures is very easy, it is just a matter of deciding what to
use in making them, whether it is apple cider vinegar, glycerin, or
vodka. You could also dry a bunch of it and sell or trade it with other
folks for other herbs they may grow.
