No, Masa is made from basically, hominy, i.e. corn which has been soaked in a lye solution. Will not work, I know I have tried it.Will not hurt but is not gluten.
Gluten is a by product and works very well both as a high nitrogen fertilizer AND as a pre emergent.
Weird that you cannot find it. Have you tried a "feed store", farm and ranch supply? That's where I get mine. Do not know about dog food.

Hi Gloria,
Thanks for the insight. I have called all of the gardening supplies in
my area and asked for corn meal gluten. They, in turn, tell me to call
the grocery store. I even tell them that I want it as a preemergent
herbicide and their attitude is like, "uhh,.. ok." Then I called the
large chain grocery stores in my area and they tell me they only have
corn meal. This is why I believe that corn meal gluten is being
controlled in the state of California for some reason.
There is plenty of masa flour available for making tortillas. Is masa
flour a good substitute preemergent herbicide? Or how about a cheap dog
food that's mostly corn meal gluten? (I would invite the rodents for
sure.)
Thanks in advance,
Randolph

Corn gluten meal is sold in both powdered and granular form. I don't
know how easy it is to find organic products in your area, but you
might try calling around to find it. Specifically ask for corn
gluten meal. You don't have to ask for horticultural corn gluten
meal....just corn gluten meal.
