venus fly trap and bay laurel

Hi Paula and all,

I'm not an expert, but I've kept both of these happy long term, so
here's what I do. As a houseplant (bay laurel can grow outdoors here) I
give bay trees full sun and water when lightly dry. I fertilize spring
and summer with general houseplant food when they're in active growth.

For flytraps, I give them full sun indoors and leave their little pot
sitting in a dish of distilled water. The thing to remember is that
most flytraps will go dormant in winter and drop their leaves. Just
leave them alone and they'll bounce back in spring. Most people think
they're dead in winter and discard them.

I'm sure others will chime in with tips and advice too. Let us know how
they do for you.=20

Take care,
Grant

I've just acquired 4 Venus Fly Traps and a Bay Laurel (Laurus Nobilis).

I would love care instructions, help, opinions, etc. for both plants.

Hi Nancee and all,

Welcome to the group! We're happy to have you here. Unfortunately, my
current bay laurel is a small landscape plant and not large enough for
me to regularly prune. Once it's large enough I'll be sure to post
about it in case you or anyone wants some of the trimmings. Honestly, I
never thought anyone would be interested in the trimmings, so I'll
definitely post about it when it's large enough. They get very large
here so hopefully mine will achieve that size soon.

Welcome again. Let us hear allllll about your indoor garden!
Take care,
Grant

Hi -Hope you don't mind me asking this. First am new to the group. My
name is Nancee and I am full of questions. Am going to go back to allmy
emails and start at the beginning.
Anyhow my question is. What do you do with the bay leaf branches when
you are pruning them? My mom use to live in Calif. and there she has bay
tree. Where she use to send me the branches every year that they trimmed
off.
I use the bay leaves in my crafts and been looking for someone that has
a tree.
Can I deal with you, or do you know of anyone that has bay trees in
there yard. That I can deal with and buy some branches every year?
Thankyou for your time!
Nancee

Hi Grant - Thankyou for your nice email. Keep a look out for me for anyone the lives in your area that has bay trees. That would send me the cuttings (I use the leaves as tree bark). And we can work out a good price for them.
