Costco usually has frozen blueberries at a decent price. Since DH is
diabetic, I encourage him to buy stuff like that that tastes good,
regardless of cost. Margaret L
Amazing! Our blackberries were finished weeks ago. Sad to say that =
most of
them went unpicked. The canes had gone crazy, despite my having pruned =
them
in March, and it was difficult to get to the berries. At the time, the
weather was so darn hot I couldn't even go outside, let alone go out =
dressed
in long pants and long-sleeved heavy shirt needed for picking. And =
boots
and thick socks, too, since the poison ivy has grown viciously this =
summer.
I got what I could from the perimeter, on those few late afternoons when =
I
ventured outside, and the rest of the berries dried up.
I wish I could have made more of an effort, because we were away when =
the
blueberries ripened, and we were thinking we'd still get through the =
winter
with plenty of blackberries. And the raspberries are drying up, too, in
this drought. We have a good quantity of strawberries, and a couple of =
bags
of blackberries left from last year plus this year's few bags, and
store-bought blueberries from my home town of Hammonton, New Jersey. =
And I
always buy a few extra local peaches each time I'm at the store, slicing
them up for freezing.
