if you put undiluted urine on pretty much anything, it dries up because of
high mineral content, just like if you'd put salt on it, or too much
fertilizer. Just tried that with some of my strawberry plants - thought I'd
give them an extra treat of pelletized manure, and the pellets didn't get
distributed evenly, so two of my strawberry plants almost died from the
overdose.
Plants drink by osmosis - the inside of the plant cells contains more
dissolved minerals and sugar than the water outside the plant cell membrane.
So water passes the membrane to dilute the liquid in the cell. If the water
outside contains more dissolved minerals than the inside of the cells, the
water comes out of the cell to dilute the minerals outside.
