poisoning soil

Roundup to kill and surflan to prevent. Anything that
would "poison" would wash off or leach into the soil.
I know of no 3 mo poison that wouldn't have long term
problems. Spinout would work if you painted between
each stone but seems a lot of work and might not look
good. It is not a poison, rather a barrier.
I would plant some really small ground cover like
thyme.

Hello to All,

Is there a way to poison the soil for several months so that no vegetation=
will grow in it... and, at the same time, be ecologically prudent? I am es=
pecially interested in preventing weeds between patio bricks. Thanks, Frank

how about you take the time to remove the 'soil' and put in the acidic stuf=
f that is supposed to be there ... and for the life of me i am blanking...=

when i put in the patio .. the rock shop told me to use ????? [i think it=
was ground up coke byproduct]... and its acidity was so high that most stu=
ff wont grow there ...

frank .. there is no need to go nuclear here ... no matter what is there...=
seeds will be blown in the wind.. and find any little crack to grow in ...=
round up every 4 to 6 weeks until you have killed all 280 trillion seeds=
that are there, and sooner or later the population will fall ...

but allowing just one plant to go to seed will bring one million more seeds=
... weeds arent fools.. and they dont drop one or two seeds .. so you have=
to kill them before they mature ....

i beileve there used to be a product called triox that was supposed to acco=
mplish what you want... but it may have been banned from homeowners going=
nuclear, when there just wasnt a need too ...

good luck ... ken [who i have a sneaking fealing.. cant spell nuclear today=
] ...{or maybe i am just pronouncing it wrong in my head}

Use PREEN or SURFLAN. You can spray weeds with white distilled vinegar.

Just a minor point, Preen and Surflan are the same
chemical in a different form.
