Merry Meet Everyone!
I don't know about coffee or cinnamon, but I do know that some dried
tansy will do the trick. Ants won't go near it, but they will go
around it, however. I keep some on my counters all the time. Another
group I belong to also says that if you plant mint around your house
it will deter the ants from entering. Tansy and mint are both very
easy to grow and I will have some seeds in a few weeks if anyone would
like some.

Hi All,

I was out of my home (and away from my garden most days) for over two month=
s and the ants (whom I'd been happy to share with) took OVER. Lots of them =
fire arts, ouch ! So I've been on a bender of ant research and experiments=
in the past two weeks. I've been trying to make them go-away, share the s=
pace with me, which is a little different from preventing them setting up r=
esidence in the first place, but here goes...

The things I've tried that didnt do a damn bit of good:
coffee grounds, both used and unused
uncooked rice, grits(the idea is they eat it and it swells in their tummies=
and kills em)
baking soda
neem oil
rubbing alcohol
black pepper, and then tried cayenne pepper

the thing that worked a little bit:
a combo of essential oils (mostly citrus, some clove and lavender)

the thing that finally DID work:
I dumped boiling water on em

Simple Blessings,
Laurel

Yep the stuff from the grocery store works just fine.
Ants HATE IT... sprinkle it on the nest or where you
don't want them to be...

As for fleas Lemon juice is their enemy! make a brew
by squeezing lemons in a big pot of water (throw in
the lemons) put on the lid and let simmer for about .5
hr...let cool then bathe dog in lemon juice...let
stand on them for about 15 min. also wash all floors
with it...finish up by vaccuming every day and
repeating lemon wash till no more fleas!

Also feed dogs lots of brewers yeast and garlic and
the fleas will run...mosquitoes hate this combo too...

Best,
Pandora

This past Beltane, a friend put up a Maypole in her front yard. While
putting the finishing touches of ribbon, etc on it - before everyone got
there, we noticed lots and lots of ants. Not just ants, but fire ants!
Yup, the only thing that worked was boiling water. We tried vinegar,
citrus and some other stuff.

Well cinnamon makes em scatter, but the boiling water
prolly lasts longer
