Hi Jeanne,
The leaves may have turned brown from sunburn. Clivia
like bright light but direct sunlight can burn the
leaves, especially when wintered inside. I would put
it outside in a shady spot. It probably won't bloom
now, but I have had them bloom in July before, so
there is a small chance it might.
From now until July fertilize it with a general all
purpose fertilizer, weakly (1/4 strength) weekly. In
July - August switch to a bloom booster fertilizer.
Then nothing in September - March. Just before your
first frost bring it inside and stop watering it for 2
- 3 months. Put it in a cool, frost-free place. In
January or so you can bring it into more light and
start watering it again. It should bloom in March for
you on that schedule, then the general fertilizing
starts up again.

Hi,
I have a clivia that I might have put out too
soon. I live in N.Y.C. Part of the leaves turned
brown. I cut the brown part off. I bought it last
year in San Francisco in May when it had just
finished blooming. I was hoping it would be
blooming by now. I am not sure if I should place it
in a spot in my back yard in the shade or in the
sun. I noticed they grew at the base of very small
trees along the streets in San Francisco.
What do you think?
Virginia

--- Jeanne,
About the clivia photo, I'm not sure how to
view it in the
message. Is it ;perhaps, in one of the photo
albums?
Attached is a photo of one of mine.
