Hello all,
My aloe has "aloe tumors" growing out of the main plant. She is a LARGE plant, blooms at least twice a year, and yes, I love this plant (if it is wrong to love a plant, then I am wrong). She has been through a lot and has always bounced back. She produces LOTS of babies for me to give away too. She has recently been growing 2 babies about mid way up the main "trunk". One is typical, w/the wedge shaped leaves. One is deformed, w/broad, almost round leaves. I'm assuming I need to remove these. Do I just yank them off, or do it one leaf at a time to lessen stress or???
Any thoughts appreciated!
Bobbie
PS. the little "mystery" plant I got for .50 that didn't have hardly any roots is doing very well (knock on wood)...growing and getting very nice color. I keep telling her to grow big.

Hi Bobbie and all,
I would rip off the entire deformed plantlet as close to the main stem as possible (or cut it off as close as possible). It might just be a chance mutation, or physical damage to the plantlet when it was growing, or it might be something more insidious like aloe mites which are absolutely invisible to the human eye, but can cause serious deformities.
I'd say remove the deformed one and discard it ASAP (and clean/sterilize any tools used to do so) and keep an eye on the plant. It's probably not mites, but keep an eye on it just in case. Definitely keep us posted.
Congrats on your mystery plant's success. That's fun to hear!
Keep us posted on both.
Take care,
Grant
