Hi Luis,
You never told us in your message exactly where south is. Since I
live on Long Island anything further south than New Jersey I
consider south, but I'll assume that your somewhere between Florida
and Tierra del Fuego, and that your in an elevation less than 2,000
feet.
Many orchids that are considered strictly epiphytic can be grown as
terrestrials. Be careful planting orchids with pseudobulbs. Just
because the orchid is a terrestrial doesn't mean that it will grow
anywhere. For example you wouldn't plant a cymbidium in a tropical
climate.
There are hundreds of different orchids that can be planted as
terrestrials in the south (I wish I knew where south was). A few
that popped into my head as I was writing this are:
Many of The Cattleyas and Their Relatives
Try cattleya bowringiana =96 a real beauty
Epidendrums
Spathoglottis Plicata
Many Australian Indigenous Orchids
Dendrobium
Orchids in the Orchidaceae, family such as the genus Bletia of which
beletillas is a member
genus Brassavola
Let us know what you've planted and how things turned out,
Anthony
