I understand we're sending you rain and wind from Ontario that should make
your hurricane even more exciting. The storm that went through here
yesterday dumped more rain than Isabel did but not as much wind.
You've had such a phenomenal fall on the east coast. I hope this storm
doesn't ravage your gardens too much.

Hurricane Juan is still coming this way. It is hot and humid and windy
but no rain as yet. I guess the surf is humongous. It sure is pounding
out there. neighbours went to the point, I can't walk out that far, and
they say it is unreal!
I am headed out to the shore in a bit. We will have a 3' surge on a very
high tide and they are forecasting extensive coastal erosion, and
flooding just to the east of us on through to the other side of Halifax.
He is tracking back toward the head of St. Margaret's Bay in the Halifax
area for now.
It will be phenomenal at Peggy's Cove today! Hope we don't loose any
wave watchers this time.
Does anyone have a good site for identifying mushrooms and toadstools. I
had one but the page is gone now.

Hi Marian, we are getting the hurricane notices every half hour now. The
EMO for the next county now says it will come in just down the shore,
between Bridgewater and Lunenburg, probably the Lahave River area.
That's about 40 minutes on the highway from us, closer as the bird
flies. It is suppose to bring 5" of rain and about 100mph winds. That
with the storm surge along with an exceptionally high tide, (we just had
the highest this year) should make for interesting water problems around
here. Sump pump is hooked up. Lets hope the greenhouse plastic holds.
That ocean is just pounding the shore here. I still haven't headed out
to look at surf. Thought I would wait until Steve got home from work and
then we can use the truck. The kia is so little that I am the only thing
that hold sit to the ground in a wind.
For those of you who were following my descriptions of the ocean you
might remember Gayle was wishing she could see some of it. Well she can
now. She is in the Pictou area and battened down. She and her friend
have been through the Cape Breton bit of their trip....they loved it
Harry! Now who else wants to visit. I will see what I can arrange for
you. :?)
Sounds like steve now so I will shut down and go do some surf seeing!
Wish us luck. I don't want to land up in Kansas!
Marg, battening down the hatches here on the south shore of Nova Scotia
where it looks like Hurricane Juan is coming for after dinner drinks!

My goodness, that sounds like really rough weather. Mercifully, on my cliff
top, we don't get these sort of storms in the UK. Having said that, when the
sea is really rough and I am in bed on the third floor, I can feel the shock
waves through my pillow as the seas batter the shore. Next morning I have to
straighten all my many pictures.
The biggest problem here is cliff erosion which comes back a few feet every
year. The authorities are continually working against the sea. Rather like King
Canute.

Margaret, speak to us. What happened, and is happening? Did you and yours
escape without damage? Margaret L
