try ashing it. Pick some poison ivy leaves (gloves ?), put it in a metal
pan over and open fire and burn it to ash, stir the ashes in water and
spray on the plants. Most people that use this method say it takes several
seasons to get rid of a plant. You can surf the net for more detailed info
on ashing.

I've used ivy block and technu with good results. Technu after I've
pulled the stuff out. I wait till after it rains ( try next year ;-)
and then cover myself completely (long sleeve,s pants, head gear, eye
googles so I don't push up my regular googles) then use ivy block on all
the exposed surfaces. and pull it out. I' just wash my clothes in
regular water and detergent when I'm done. I figure the detergent will
break down the oils on my clothes. The reason regular soap won't work
with poison ivy on your skin is the oils react chemically with your skin
(or so I've ben told)

I'm very gentle about pulling it out and eventually I find the mother
root. Usually about 1/2 inch thick with lots of smaller vines coming
out of it. You have to get this root out to stop the invasion.

and I'd say there are times when all out war is neccessary. my husband
reacts very poorly to poison ivy and total elimination in our yard is
important. Of course with 5 acres of woods next door it will be an on
going battle

I use ivyblock before pulling it which is a protective coating for your
skin. After pulling the poison ivy I use Technu. It won't prevent a
rash that has started, but it will break down the irritating chemical.
So if you use it within 2 hours of exposure your risk of developing a
rash is greatly diminished. Note that if you're very sensitive to
poison ivy this won't work. My husband reacts no matter what he does, so
I always do the PI work in our yard.
