They can handle temperatures down to the 40s...so I just leave mine outside
where street lights won't bother it in until cold weather threatens...that's
usually enough mistreatment for it. My grandmother kept one in an unheated
room, with just natural daylight and occasional watering for company -- and
it was a neverfail Christmas bloomer.

That's what my mother does, too. Then she brings it into a closed-in
breeze-way that she only heats with one of those oil circulating heaters
if the temps get below 20. Hers always thrive and bloom on time.
