Hi Jo,
I've never tried a toad house before, but I've seen them in the catalogs
for $15... I had some recycled clay to use up, so I made 3. I decided to
put this purple one in my friend's memorial garden, because it's PURPLE!
(Her favorite). My daughter chose a small blue one, but she's shoved it
so deep into the dirt in her newly expanded garden... and way out in the
open at the moment... I don't think she'll have much luck.
weeding an area about 15 feed down from where I've got mine now, and
sent 2 toads a hoppin' already... so I know they're out and about.
I figure even if they don't use them, they're cute ornaments. The only
thing I wasn't sure about was whether I should have made them without
air holes at the top. In other words, I made "functional chimneys" on
them. I'm not sure what kind of effect that will have on the environment
inside?
Any toad house experts out there?

Very nice, Peg. Thanks for sharing with us.
I like your toad house, too.
I've got two of them but I've never found exactly the right place to put
them. I've tried for moist or shady places but nothing ever comes to
live in
them.
