showed how to collect spider webs (not harmful to the spider). Spray them
GENTLY with a fog of hairspray or spray lacquer. Bring a piece of black
construction paper up behind the web until it is stuck to the paper.
CAREFULLY snip the anchor lines. Voila - preserved spider web - looks like
it's covered with dew. Takes a little practice, but it works. >>
Lon,
This reminds me of collecting mushroom tops and putting them rightside up on
black paper overnight. In the morning there would be a print of spores,
which I used to preserve with pastel fixative. I found a few of these tucked
in a portfolio several years ago, and was transported back to the bedroom
natural history museum I kept when I was about 13. Now my son does the same
thing in his bedroom, and I don't recall ever telling him about mine. I have
to remember to show him spore printing - this is a good time for mushrooms.
