It looks like the garter snake to me also. They look like that in the
midwest anyway.

Can't believe I did that...well, can, since I was so much of a zombie yesterday with no sleep.

Ah, that's good to know. Maybe my overtime cheque will come soon! (though that shouldn't count should it, since I EARNED that!)

Especially if they eat big frogs like that!

I'm also convinced now. I'm going to ask our snake guy why he didn't
think it was a garter snake.

Yes, I vote for garter snake as well, Eastern Garter Snake,
Thamnophis sirtalis. Their range is large and certainly includes all
of MS. Coloration and pattern are variable, very much so. Linda in
NW Ohio.

What I've learned, from the discussion here and the reading I've done
to identify this snake, is that garter snakes, while they're generally
small like I've seen (20-24"), can get much larger - up to 4 feet
apparently.

Hi Brenda,
Wearing clothes inside out accidently mean
money is coming to you. (Old superstition).

Oops, too late! I happily report that I had a decent sleep last night
and had my underwear the right way 'round today!
