We planted our blackberries yesterday. We have been waiting for them for
about 8 days and they finally arrived at our PO Box Thursday (or maybe
Wednesday, we do not pick up mail daily). Planted 12 triple crown and 12
chester.
We also finished the grapes yesterday (had to wait on 2 of 3 varieties
as they were with the blackberries). Put in 17 each of Marquis, Mars and
Reliance. The mars were put in 8 days ago because they came with apple
trees and red raspberries. I believe our perennial fruit plantings are
done for the year. In all we put in 2 apple trees (fameuse and red free)
2 peach trees (Elberta and Red haven) 100 red raspberries, 300
asparagus, 300 everbearing strawberries, 51 grapes, 24 blackberry
plants. I still want to get a few paw paw trees, some cranberries,
blueberries, a few pear trees (we have 2 or 3 Kieffer's that are ancient
on the property), some cherry trees (both sweet and sour). But that will
have to happen next spring as the annual crops are beginning to take all
of our time.
