The snakes are something we have to live with in the country. Now
that I know they like this area I am careful about the spot.
Usually if the pits spot them in the yard they raise cane until
we come out to take care of the intruder by removing it in some
way.

Do you have any Owls? Maybe add some owl habitat, unless you
have a

Yes we have owls all over the place. It's a nice sound in the
evening when we are outside. It's kind of like a alarm clock.
When it starts getting late in the evening it's a sound that
stands out when your working. Sometimes we hear them in the
middle
of a sunny day. We have a large valley going on the south side of
our place with a
creek going through it. The name of the creek is "Deer Creek" for
obvious reasons.
We look down from the barn & shop onto a 22 acre fescue field
that is green pretty
much year around. In this valley we usually see 4 - 6 deer that
live in the area. We have seen as many as 20. Whenever we see
some deer we have to act like idiots and
call for BUCK. Buck is the baby deer we raised. He stayed around
until he decided to
do the wild-thing. We learned a lot about deer and nature with
him. One time my son
was spotlighting on our property and called Buck when he saw a
bunch of deer. Buck walked up to the 4 wheeler and let him pet
him. We loved him but he was getting to be
a pain and even though we missed him we were glad when he left.
The best thing I have done to protect the owls and hawks is to
jump these country boys *&%&*^%$$^&$ about target practicing on
these birds. It's like I tell my son not only is it against the
law, just because you can do something like shooting one doesn't
mean to do it. I told him not only that, they clean up all the
road kill on the road
and the armadillos he shoots.
