Errr... just breaking in briefly to point out that, in fact, the honeybee is
nearly extinct in the wild and very likely WOULD be extinct if it weren't
for beekeepers, who protect them against the tracheal mites that decimated
their populations. Beekeepers wouldn't keep bees if it weren't for the fact
that they produce honey and beeswax. So in this case, "disturbing" the bee
population is what keeps the bee population alive. A small price to pay, I
think.

There are wild bees whose populations are also threatened by pesticides
etc., but those types of bees don't produce honey or wax in such quantities
that people are apt to "disturb" them.
