A huge (overfertilized by housesitter last summer) aloe jumped off my plant
stand last night and broke off several "arms" at least an inch across. I
have used aloe in the past for burns, etc. Does anyone know a way to
preserve these pieces that they can be used? I hate to just throw them
away. Also the plant was very disfigured by this accident. Any suggestions
on what to do about it?

I wonder if you could pulverize them in a blender and then freeze that in
small portions for future use.

I was thinking about that, but has anyone tried it?

Interesting...although I have several rooted plants laying in the garage
(they were outside) that I have nowhere to put...

My cats delight in pulling apart my aloes when they want attention. I
have sliced the broken pieces, wrapped them with saran wrap and popped
them into the freezer so if I burn I can slap a cold piece on after the
initial dose of fresh direct from the plant. (I am burning me all the
time.) If the frozen pieces thaw they are a bit slimier than normal. I
sometimes strip out the pulp and spread that on saran to make a cool rub
for dry, brittle hands for after doing dishes.
I have a huge plant and it is too big for its location. I want ot make a
lotion to use it up but haven't found a recipe as yet. Was going to
check my herbal bible. I will get back to you if I find a recipe. Marg
