Just on a lark I googled, 'value of a cat' and here it is.
Read down far enough and you see that a Welsh King decreed the worth of a
cat.
"At birth she is worth a penny," so goes the law, "two pence after she has
opened her eyes, and a groat if she has caught a mouse." If a cat was
killed, Hywel decreed that the owner should be compensated with enough grain
to cover the dead animal from the tip of the tail to the head.

Ok guys, now I don't know the answer to this bit of trivia but I will
know it when you answer with the right answer.
I named my cat Penelope, " the Pennycat" as a nickname. There is a
saying, from, I believe, the tenth century, setting down the value of a
kitten and cat.
Do any of you cat lovers know the little verse?
I have seen it very recently, I know that, but For the life of me I
haven't any clue where. Pennycat goes for her yearly tomorrow and the
vet wanted to know why i call her that and thought it would be nice to
post this on her wall. So I can't find it...can you?

That's it, Marion. I spent some time trying to find it on the internet
and didn't even come close. I know I searched verse about the value of a
cat....hmmm. This is fine though. I will print it off for Lois. thank
you. Marg
