Maybe they will decide to bloom if I shift them to a brighter location. I
have them on the back side of a west facing window. Very bright but not much
direct sun. Could move them, after Christmas. I have to figure how to get a
tree in here now. I saw a spindly little Charlie brown type I love but Steve
wants one that is larger and fuller. I will not have a sheared one though. I
don't have lots of ornaments but I love glass icicles and such and I want
then to drip properly. I like to tuck things amongst the boughs as well.

I wanted a little 4 - max 5 ft one that I could put on a little table. Only
ones I saw that size were at HD that were really spindly - could count the
number of branches, and they were asking about $14 for it. We will cut
quite a bit off of the one we bought and I'll use some of the branches for
decorations. More and more difficult to buy branches now. I'm still using
my old decorations - little wooden, Scandinavian type ones. Actually not
overly fond of those highly sheared trees filled with so many decorations
that you can't even see the tree.

I am amazed at some of the prices this year. Steve spent the day cutting
more for our friend. His place had line ups today, people waiting for the
trucks to come back to his house where the tree yard is set up. People are
wanting their trees earlier this year by about a week on the average. I
guess with the type of snow we have been getting they figure to get them
home and in so they can have them in fact. So many inland were buried in
that last storm we had.
I really don't care for the heavily laden sheared trees. You are over
whelmed and can't enjoy the decorations, IMO. I like to trip into the lights
and ornaments...

One year of very small budget, I got a VERY large vase/pot/jug and filled it
with pine branches and decorated the whole thing like a tree. I made sure I
had one of the largest branches in the middle as a home for the angel.
Now that I've downsized my holiday, I still keep fragrant pine branches in a
large vase. Easy to decorate and keep fresh and fragrant.

During the time I was so sick with the asthma attacks, there was a period of
nearly two years when I was on a machine every hour and could not have any
plants or such about. My friend, Flo, and I decided to get a tree and put
lights on it and It was outside the window on the veranda so I could see it
all night if I wanted to. It was so lovely, so much snow that winter. We
also did up a coal scuttle with scotch broom from the highway r/w and I hung
my miniature crocheted ornaments on that. It was out in the entry way, which
was the front hall of a big old Pre-Victorian house that was my Great and
grand and my Dad's family home, then a number of apartments.
There was on older woman who lived in what was the maid's quarters and she
loved it enough the next year she and I decorated. The following year it
was demolished.
