CONTEST: Who can first get a one-hundred-year-old amaryllis?

My girlfriend Bente's mother on Greenland has one that is 37 years old and better than when it was young.

I think my oldest ones are from 1997, so I won't win the contest.

If you are old and have amaryllis, you can will them to a child and explain the contest.

QUESTION: Can an amaryllis that sprouted during hibernation and then dried up, get any leaves this time around? Flower?

Here is how my original eight are doing:

nov. 1:

1. 4 good leaves
2. nothing so far

nov. 8:

1. side bulb and start of leaf
2. leaf just starting

nov. 15:

1. nothing
2. nothing

nov. 22:

1. leaf shoots shaky but okay
2. leaf shoots dead

Next Monday I get out 2 of Bargyla's amaryllis (just wanting to see if they are ready to flower). Then a bit later my daughter's 2.

My bathroom is the funniest thing you ever saw! Even I laugh about it.
