Also posting the correct answers were Lee Ann and Kim. Congratulations
to all for being so cactus savey.

Margaret L. asked about the cactus plant connected with the word
"Pitahaya." According to "The Cactaceae" by N. Britton and J.N. Rose,
the word "Pitahaya" is a well known name in tropical Amercia for many
species of cacti, especially those within the genus Cereus. The word
"Pitahaya" appears in a number of spellings, including Pitajaya,
Pitajuia, Pitaya, Pithaya, and Pitalla. In the United States the
cactus most common associated with the word Pitahaya is Lemaireocereus
thurberi (the Organ Pipe Cactus), sometimes called Cereus thurberi.
The flowers, which appear from March to August, are followed by the
large delicious fruit much prized by the natives of the area, who know
it as pitahya or pitahaya dulce.

Wow, I think that's the first time I've won, but I had to look them all
up--didn't have a clue to even attempt a guess.
