I get black aphids on asparagus beans, in patches so thick that the pod is
obscured. Red ants scurry all over the pods. No damage as far as I can
tell.

Black aphids appear on the asparagus beans as soon as pods begin to =
elongate
but, as I said, seem not to cause any external harm to the pod. These =
are
the only beans in my garden that are bothered by aphids. All the other
beans are bothered by the Mexican bean beetle!
