Oh what a lot of work, picking all those berries, and there isn't much more room in the freezer even though I eat as many as I can every day with cream and sugar and even that is getting boring.
But on the other hand...
In two weeks or less, the 2003 canes had overgrown this year's berry canes, hidden them almost completely, and were growing along the ground looking for a good place to set root.
WELL, couldn't have that, could we? I have been out there almost every day cutting that new cane back - it keeps on coming!
I have also bought the longest highest stepladder there is, and have picked lots where I couldn't reach before. But there are berries three times as high, or will be (just flowers now), so I can't get them all.
I will continue cutting back, even though I would love to have as many berries every year. My vegetables didn't get much sun because the canes shaded them.
