Good for you, Todd! Organic gardening definitely takes both patience =
and diligence. Ed's comment about toads made me think of all of the =
toads we have seen this year - much more than last year, for some =
reason. And, consequently, a lot fewer grasshoppers. We have also =
enjoyed watching the trapdoor-type spider (almost the size of my hand) =
make her way around the garden, carrying her babies on her back, I =
assume looking for food. She lives under one of our beds. Then there =
is Pierre, our resident skunk, who has been digging under the barkchip =
mulch around the blueberries, looking for grubs. And the wasps, who =
burrow into the ground, catch big, fat caterpillars, tuck them in with =
their eggs, and seal up the holes. We did not have even one tomato =
hornworm last year.
A few of the many reasons not to spray the garden with "Killerbam".
