Boy w/ neighbors like that who needs enem...but seriously, I dont
think they should need it...doesnt he have any rooted vines that he
could give you,, dont they root and spread like the dickens anyway, I
would think that there would be no need to purposely root a vine- with
new ones popping from the crown, just dig a little and "whala" a new
plant...
shooting from the hip ..
no berries in my garden
but pa has 200 foot row of boysenberries and no shortage of preserves

Since I've heard that Blackberries are one of those rampant growers, I'm
wondering if Cyndi's neighbour may just be testing her resolve as an organic
gardener.

Some people are real sh** disturbers.

LOL! Nah, I think he's just *ahem* old and set in his ways. He also told
me it was impossible to grow tomatoes (in this climate at least) without
chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

At any rate, I don't see these neighbors very often so I've accepted that I
won't get a chance to have a blackberry cutting. No biggie...I grow two
kinds myself now, in addition to the Himalayas and species blackberries I
keep confined to a fence on the back of the property (techinically not my
property but the two neighbors who share the fence are glad to let me and
my SO take care of and harvest them all).

So total I have about ... let's see ... 40 or 50 feet of blackberries so I
really can't complain. Not to mention that I an active in the local
chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers (great org, btw!) and can get
all the cuttings I want.
