my woods ecological change

For the past four years I have removed several huge piles of tree tops in the woods. Where these piles were are now growing butterbur.

Last winter was extremely wet, so most of the woods was flooded, though not where these piles had been. Still, the butterbur has spread much more this year. More than that, there is horsetail growing on this dryer part where it never has ventured before, staying closer to the boggy part.

Funny that my cleaning up a bit has resulted in a veritable flood of butterbur. Mankind messing around with nature!
