If it weren't for good books and good music, I wouldn't make it through
the dark winter, I'm sure! The poor Swedes and Norwegians have a very
high winter suicide rate, and I can understand it!
I have read that in the larger towns in Sweden they provide
extra=brightly lit rooms where people can go to spend a few hours. This
I understand reactivates their shrivelled pituitary glands and
miraculously cheers them up.
Those of us who live in sunnier climes fortunately usually get
sufficient natural light even in winter. I am sure your refugees would
indeed find your dark winters hard to take.

I often wonder if the refugees are affected as much as I am, or more, as
they usually come from places much closer to the equator than I do.

I use the same trick. All the rooms are lit from the ceiling with 100W and everywhere I do anything there are stander lamps with 100W/200W. I generally read at 200W, though 100W is enough. The more light, the cheerier I am.
