My blackberry (Rubus armenica) is very unkind to me. Because of my bad neck I usually wear two kerchiefs on my head, and they are in shreds. The under one, of old cotton, will have to be discarded, which dismays me, since it is hard to find cotton kerchiefs now (of course I can sew some).
I started an experiment today. Took four cuttings of shoots and placed them cane side down in a very wet pot. Later four cuttings and placed them in water cane side down. The ones in water wilted immediately. The ones in soil look okay so far.
Oh, and if you hadn't heard, the climate is getting warmer. I hadn't moved my garden chair inside yet, as I usually do, and sat outside all day enjoying the sun and warmth. Probably only 25, but pure sun. This has never happened before. Until three-four years ago, it always began to rain on August 15th and continued until New Year's when we got some frost and snow. Then August became a nice month, and now even September is warm!
