No, no, no! You don't understand the role of Macs (the Macintosh apple) =
in
the scheme of THINGS! It probably shouldn't be shipped, ever.

It's one of the first apples of the season and just before it gets ripe =
and
soft it has the bestest sour/sweet/crunch! For like one day; two at the
most. This is of course made much better by the fact that it's the =
first
fresh apple that you've had since the ones in the fruit cellar went =
rotten
in late March.

Then, just as they mellow and get soft they have a delightful sweetness. =
But
you have to time it perfectly for either the crunch or the sweetness. =
As I
remember, even with a lot of Macs, you had only a week or two when they =
were
good eating out of hand. Each apple has maybe four days optimal.

And they make a wonderful, soft, sweet/sour applesauce.

Haven't seen those up here yet, don't think. Fuji is pretty much the =
most
"exotic". Rest are just Macs (which have to be the worst apple ever),

I know Macs, believe me. I grew up with a Mac tree in the back yard. There is a split second of time - literally - when they're good. AFter that, yuck! They do make the best juice though, I'll admit. Especially after they're half rotten and had a touch of frost (speaking from experience!!). They're definitely NOT my favourite eating apple though. They're too soft for me.
