Just relating the second kill this year of a rattlesnake in the garden.
COuldn't say which type the first one was, but the one I just killed was a
Western DIamondback.
ZOne 10 might be great climate wise, but there are a few pitfalls to be
concerned with.
It's now minced snake soil "compost", 6" deep, courtesy of a handy spade.

I'd bury it deeper, Bill. Those fangs still contain the venom, and you =
can get some if you're planting and accidentally brush a hand against =
them. Margaret L

NOt a bad idea, Margaret, however barehanded gardening is rare here ,save
for handling some tools or potting up plants from a prepared commercial
mix. Also, deeper burial is farther away from the aerobic biota we want to
feast on the remains.
It's buried 6-8 inches down along w/ a bunch of proteinaceous remains,
under a Paulownia tree-not a regular garden plot area.
,
My wife has and is very freaked out about any kind of snake or lizard.
She found both- this year.
