Yeah, dig it out. I have never been able to get rid of all the ground
ivy in my grass. Reduce yes; eliminate no - and that's using chemical
weedkiller which I don't like to use and therefore only apply once every
two years. One time use does not kill it all I've found, but it does
teach it some manners. Anyway, it keeps spreading into the garden beds
and I have a rock barrier with plastic underneath it. The plastic just
makes it a little more work for the ground ivy - the roots have to travel
under it. Maybe if I had a wall with a footer that would keep it out.
Oh well.......every year I end up digging some out of the flower beds.
It does pull up easily in the flower beds (not in the grass), and since I
am vigilant, it has never gotten established in the beds. But each year
I have to keep after it. If it would just grow on the wild side of the
yard I'd welcome it, but it has delusions of grandeur and wants to take
over the grass too.
