ants in my beds......

About 2 month ago I made some 8" high beds and filled them with 50% native
soil/50% compost. Iplanted
garlic, onions, shallots, radishes and so on and they are all doing great
(kind of making time till
I can put my tomatoes and eggplants on the ground). Today I pulled some
shallts and with the roots I got
lots of ants. Are they good or bad? Can I leave them undisturbed in my bed
or are they going to eat
the tomaatoes, parsley, basil, etc?

Dont think they will eat your crop ,but, they might farm some aphids on
your plants.
