I planted Eremurus robutus for first time last autumn .. or atumn and
autumn - I am not sure if I was in the beginning od December befoe I got
that job done.

But it has just been a very nice surprise - very very healthy - over 2
meter tall now - and now it is has started flowering so I suppose it will
become even taller?
a question:
Do you people normally put a stake to hold this tall flower stalk? Or is it
strong enough to take some wind and rain .. if it comes?
I want ot see if I can get seeds so it ought to not break.
Merci mon amies!

I have Eremurus hybrids, which don't get quite as tall as your
robustus...close to five feet tall. They tend to bend and sway but they
don't break off. I don't stake them because they do manage to stand on
their own and Eremurus roots are brittle and are said to resent root
disturbance.

When they're in bloom, all the sail power is at the top 70+ cm. of
stalk. Wouldn't staking have to extend up into the flower area avoid
snapping them off at the tie-off area? How could you stake them in a
way that's both visually pleasant and effective?

Good going on bloom...are they breathtaking beauties?
