milk on orchids as fungicide

I keep some powdered milk on hand for emergencies. I was thinking more
once it is on the plant and in the growing medium, it will sour
relatively quickly. In the case of orchids anyone got any idea how long
to leave it for it to work, then be rinsed off.
I was give two new small orchids for my birthday this week. One is a
paph and the other a brassia... prices were fantastic, the Brassia was
$14 and should bloom this spring coming. The ladyslipper was a bit more
but has several sections one of which is setting a bud now. Hope I don't
loose it.

I'm thinking that milk may have to stay wet in order to sour?

I know that my mom used canned milk as a child safe glue for various
projects and it never resulted in a sour smell.

I guess I will try it, when necessary. If it does sour in that warm,
moist environment, I will have to rinse thoroughly.
Curiosity strikes again?: what is that recipe for that glue, do you
know? I have a friend that has a grandbaby (3 years old) and we are
always trying to find safe recipes. I haven't got that one, Esther.

Hi Marg, I remember applying the canned milk directly on paper with a =
paint
brush. Don't remember using it for anything but paper on paper but mom
taught Sunday school so there were a lot of little projects where things =
had
to be kid safe. It's also a pretty wet glue so applying with a light =
hand
is important and the stuff that you are working with may have to dry out
before you handle it again. A lot like the old Elmers standard.

Thanks, Esther, I will try that here and see how it goes. I have lots of
canned milk and will practice. I love coming up with ideas that can help
an exhausted "Grannie".
