When I was pregnant my husband discovered some mushrooms in our lawn and
rushed off to the library for some reference books, decided that they
were edible, which they were, but being pregnant I couldn't eat any -
just in case. Each morning, he'd get the butter all hot in the frying
pan before he went and picked dew spotted mushrooms. He feasted for
several days but didn't rave to heartily about the great taste. Not
eating mushrooms or lake salmon just put a culinary dent into my
pregnancy, but well worth it because that little one is now a successful
adult with a family of his own.

Hi Marion,
I do like the portabellas in the can or fresh at
the Stop and Shop.
I don't think I've ever eaten any that grew wild -
I would be scared.
Right now I have several cans of mushrooms. I use
them in different recipes and they stay nice in
the cans. :)
I didn't feel like cooking tonight, so I had
cream of mushroom soup (Campbell's) with
rice and chicken added. Pretty good.
June (obviously not a fussy eater).
