Tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract always helped me out w/ the rash.
bille
yup, it's diffrerent.
I would use the Technu when first contacted.
Both tea tree oil and GSE will help to combat infection and work to dry out
the sores.
I've heard some folks get relief by scrubbing down w/ sea salt in the
shower, but that might be just as bad as the problem, tho, only temporarily.
The abrasiveness just might work to pick up some of the urushiol( PI
poison).
I've read that TTO used full strength can cause a reaction in some folks.
I've never had a problem , tho..... GSE used full strength( away from
delicate skin areas around the groin and face) doesn't bother me either, but
according to directions is a waste, as the stuff is so strong.
Use any or all in combination.
Good luck.

Is tea tree oil different from Neem?
What combination? any water? I have GSE.
Do you use this *after* the rash has formed, or as a wash when you first
contact the PI?

Thanks Bille, I was eyeing both last night wondering....... I bought
something at the store but it helped not at all.
I'm buying rubber gloves this morning and finding some really old clothes I
can throw away and then when the rain stops the poison ivy is history.

Dont forget to throw away your shoes. Or wash the he.. out of them... Next
time I attack some, I'm getting some TYVEK overalls and booties. They'll get
tossed at the endo f the day.

Now that I've started thinking about sweetfern, I've got to find a place that
sells it. It would be great in my new border.
Here's a good site for it.

Yes! They come from completely different plants.
Tea Tree oil comes either from Leptospermum (NZ) or from Melaleuca
(Australia). (These two Genera are very closely related.)
Neem come from Azidiracta, aka Melea, an Indian tree, totally unrelated
and an oil with somewhat different properties (although also useful
medicinally).
