I have heard controversy over whether Tobacco Mosaic
can in fact be spread by cigarette smoking. Some say
only cigars, others say both, and others suggest that
neither can cause it.
Does anyone know about this and also how else the
disease occurs and spreads?
Thank you.

Tobacco Mosaic can be spread by any product that contains tobacco.
Smoking and then touching your tomato plants can do it, wash your hands
before going into the garden. And, obviously, don't smoke in the garden.
I learned this in my plant disease courses in college. Since it is
incurable and will wipe out your tomato crop, why take chances as to
whether it is true?
