Hi Carol,
Early computer monitors, (and no doubt early TVs too) did emit /very
small/ amounts of x-rays, but this has long ceased being any kind of
problem. There is still some query about the "electro-magnetic
radiation" from them, but there is considerable doubt whether this does
any harm to anybody or not, "the jury is out".
Incidentally, the EMFs tend to be stronger at the /sides/ of the monitor
than in front of the screen.
Also, of course, the most obvious, and strongest, radiation from a
monitor (or TV is coloured light!!!! 8-)
